Woman Missing For Days ID'd As Body Found Behind Southeast DC Apartment

A woman reported missing earlier this month has been identified as the body that was located in a trash can behind an apartment complex in Southeast DC on Monday afternoon.

The DC Medical Examiner's Office has identified the woman found near the Randle Highlands apartment building on Monday, March 20, as 59-year-old Yvette Spencer, who had been reported missing since Friday, March 17.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Monday, officers were called to the 1600 block of 27th Street, where they reportedly found the human remains, later identified as Spencer. 

According to police, the incident is being treated as a death investigation. Her cause of death remains under investigation.
